Balboa Island Activities

BalboaIsland.com - Balboa Island Ferris Wheel
Don't think there's anything to do in the archipelago? Think again! It's surrounded by water, after all. You can have a bit of beach frolicking, if you like, and even hop on the ferry and take a tour. Because the area pretty much always has calm waters, you can enjoy having a view of the ocean or the skyline (depending on where you're being floated over at the moment) without having to worry about being stranded out at sea due to an ocean storm. There's very little danger of being swept out to sea as you swim either, and you can indulge in all the water sports - jet skiing, etc. - or boat riding that you'd like.

If you don't care much for the water, you'd be happy to know that biking and rollerblading is one of the best ways to get around the island. You can also indulge in a bit of shopping; there are so many unique stores in the area that you wouldn't even really know where to begin looking for that one item that you would forever recognize as definitive of your vacation. You can also visit the very interesting Balboa Island Museum and Historical Society at the Bayfront, to learn more about the area. If you get bored with those, you can always come for special events like the colorful Balboa Island Parade or their Christmas Boat Parade.

There is actually so much to do in Balboa Island.
