The Balboa Island Christmas Tree Lighting festivities took place last Sunday and a jolly good time was had by all. Hosted by the Balboa Island Improvement Association, the event was a street party for people of all ages. As the pink and purple winter sunset unfolded, the revelry began with lights, music, treats, and of course, snow!
Balboa Island took it up a notch this year with a sledding hill for the kids in the street next to the Village Inn. There were peals of laughter and screams of delight as children rode flying saucers down the packed snow. It’s always so much fun to see SoCal kids have the chance to play in the white stuff. Pure joy!
The huge Christmas tree in front of the fire station was decorated with a silvery, shimmery theme and will be lit every evening throughout the holidays. Santa and Mrs. Claus sat on their traditional thrones and listened closely to the children’s wishes.
Rick Sherman was back for his 18th year of holiday musical entertainment, and the crowd just loved it. The Young Singers of Orange County returned again this year, as well, performing Christmas carols and getting the crowd in the holiday spirit.
Once again, Balboa Island was the scene of something magical!
From top to bottom
You’re so bright
There’s only splendor for the sight
O Christmas tree,
O Christmas tree
Your lights are shining brightly.
