Celebrate the Tradition

Sugar ’n Spice has been a Balboa Island landmark since their doors first opened to the public way back in 1945. Their shop is the one-and-only “Original”, being the very first frozen banana and Balboa Bar shop on the Island.

2021 marks Sugar ‘n Spice’s 76th Anniversary, and as much as times and fashions have changed over the years, customers can always count on each and every banana and Balboa Bar being made-to-order, hand-dipped for them, twice, in milk chocolate, then rolled in the favorite toppings of their choice.

The result is the same now as it was 74 years ago: delicious treats and our customers’ smiling faces…and nothing makes us happier!
