As summer reluctantly gives way to fall the residents of Balboa Island were treated to one final outdoor event of the season. The 2013 Taste of Balboa Island took place on Saturday, September 7, at the little park on Agate Street near the ferry.
The islands best restaurants gathered for the annual event while attendees were treated to some delicious gastro creations. The Taste of BBI event serves as a vehicle for island restaurants to show off their individual style and flare which they hope will attract new customers. The evening was filled with camaraderie, music and of course, food. As the event drew to a memorable close, one resident was overheard saying this was our best taste yet.
This years event was sponsored by Abrams Coastal Reality, Lara Vance, Beach Time Reality, Ciao Italian Restaurant and Mary Hardesty Reality.
As a side note, the rumors are true. The Taste of Newport Beach has been cancelled this year. According to Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce President Steve Rosansky, The event has kind of outgrown the chamber. Apparently, the chamber is forced to shut down every year while they prepare for the Taste event. It has forced the chamber to act in a party planner capacity which they do not feel is a wise use of time or resources. Additionally, a new office tower at Fashion Island has taken away space which would affect the event.
